I am a massive fan of Green Tea and I've been drinking it consistently now as my normal "tea drink" for about two and a half / three years. I wanted to share the befits and 10 reasons why I love to drink Green Tea.
1. Speeding up metabolism
Green tea contains caffeine and catechins that stimulate the nervous system, which can increase thermogenesis (burning stored energy) and fat oxidation."The caffeine in green tea could raise your metabolic rate ever so slightly, but it wouldn't have a different effect than coffee." Green tea has been shown to boost the metabolic rate and increase fat burning in the short term, although not all studies agree.
2. Antioxidant
Green tea is full of bioactive compounds which asin the tea leaves do make it into the final drink, which contains large amounts of important nutrients. It is loaded with polyphenols like flavonoids and catechins, which function as powerful antioxidants.
3. Improves Dental health
Green Tea is known of cavity prevention Because it controls bacteria and lowers the acidity of saliva and dental plaque which has been tested an proved that people had less bacteria and acid in their mouths, as well as reduced gum bleeding because Green tea’s anti-inflammatory powers seem to help control periodontal (gum) disease. Other research has found that drinking green tea shows promise when it comes to preventing tooth decay and therefore leads to less tooth loss. Green Tea is also known for giving better-smelling breath because it kills the microbes that make our mouths smell. Studies show that Green tea outperformed mints, chewing gum and even parsley-seed oil.

4. Health Benefits
- Cancer control
The antioxidants and other properties of green tea appear to protect against cellular damage and cancerous tumour growth. As Cancer is caused by uncontrolled growth of cells,Green tea is an excellent source of powerful antioxidants, so it makes perfect sense that it could reduce your risk of cancer, which it appears to do:Breast cancer: A meta-analysis of observational studies found that women who drank the most green tea had a 22% lower risk of developing breast cancer, the most common cancer in women .Prostate cancer: One study found that men drinking green tea had a 48% lower risk of developing prostate cancer.Do not put milk in your tea, because it can reduce the antioxidant.
- Type 2 Diabetes
Some controlled trials show that green tea can cause mild reductions in blood sugar levels. It may also lower the risk of developing type II diabetes in the long term.Green tea can improve insulin sensitivity and reduce blood sugar levels, one study in Japanese individuals found that those who drank the most green tea had a 42% lower risk of developing type II diabetes and green tea drinkers had an 18% lower risk of becoming diabetic in general.
5. Mood
Apparently it say that if you drinking few cups of green tea that would help/reduced depression! I'm drinking one (organic tick tock) right now with squeeze of lovely thyme honey! Delicious! In analyzing data on the study members, the scientists found that those who drank four or more cups of green tea each day were 44 percent less likely to have depressive symptoms (compared to those who drank one or fewer cups of green tea daily). Certain compounds in green tea may offer anti-stress and anti-inflammatory effects, which could in turn curb the development and progression of depressive symptoms.

6. Increases Energy And Mental Focus
L’theanine is an ingredient in Green Tea which is shown to “increase alpha-wave activity”, which increases tranquillity and releases caffeine more slowly, instead of all at once, which can lead to you crashing. The two ingredients also combine to “produce a better ability to focus attention, with improvement of both speed and accuracy.” Drinking 1-4 cups of tea throughout the day improves alertness, focus, and mental performance. These benefits are attributed to the two chemicals – caffeine and l’theanine.
